Yokotone Lock Fureai Park
The Yokotone Lock, built in 1921, is a brick double lock located at the confluence of the Tone River and the Yokotone River.
It is a national Important Cultural Property and it continues to operate to this day. It borders Chiba Prefecture and Ibaraki Prefecture and is surrounded by the Yokotone Lock Fureai Park on both sides.
Within the park, there is a western-style garden, a waterfront plaza, a picnic square, and a lawn.
It is a picturesque place with a sweeping view of the riverside region, and is a famous spot for cherry blossom viewing.
Access
By train and bus
- Take the Kantetsu Kanko Bus from JR Sawara Station, bound for Itako via Lake Yodaura, for 10 min and get off at the Kōmon (lock) bus stop.
*There are only about six busses a day
By car
- Approx. 15 min from Sawara-Katori IC on the Higashi-Kanto Expressway
- Approx. 20 min from Taiei IC on the Higashi-Kanto Expressway
