Sawara Hina Doll Tour

Shops with a hina display are indicated by this banner flag.

At the Sawara Neighborhood Museum, organized by the Sawara Wife Association, shops throughout Sawara’s Historical District display their family treasures. The Sawara Hina Doll Tour, which begins in February, is one of their temporary exhibits.

During this time period, over half of the shops that are part of the Sawara Neighborhood Museum display their precious hina dolls, which have been handed down for many generations. These exhibits include old hina dolls from the Edo (1603-1868) and Meiji period (1868-1912) and Imperial Palace-like mansion models filled with hina dolls.

The Inoh Tadataka Museum, Sawara Visitor’s Center, and other nearby facilities also display hina dolls.

Hina exhibits can be found in shops that have a peach-colored banner flag in front. Please feel free to enter these shops. Note, however, that many shops are closed on Mondays and Wednesdays.
