Shinjō-ji Temple

Shinjō-ji Temple
This temple is said to have been founded by the Chinese monk Ganjin Oshō during the Nara period (710 – 794). The temple’s pyramidal roof, round pillars, and open-air main building gives it a very historical atmosphere.
Within the precinct, there are old weeping cherry trees, which bloom from early to mid-March. The scenery of the blossoming trees, with the crimson-colored passage in the background, has been selected as one of the 500 Charming Places in Bōsō.
In addition, the harmony between the autumn leaves and the main building, which has withstood hundreds of years of blizzards, creates an elegant charm.
