In case of emergency or crisis

In order to answer your inquiries more fully, we recommend that you ask someone understands both Japanese and English (or your mother language) before you ask us.

If you dial 110, you can contact police anytime to make a report. When using a public telephone, 110 can be called by pushing the red emergency contact button. (Same as calling 119)

When you call, report in this order:

1. The details of the accident or crime.
2. The location or address where it occurred.
3. Your name.

If you report that there is an injured person, an ambulance will be dispatched.

The fire department has both fire engines and ambulances.
When you call, report in this order:

1. The reason for your telephone call, and whether you are calling about a fire or medical emergency. Remember to remain calm and speak clearly.
2. The location from which you are calling.
3. Your name and phone number.

The timing and magnitude of earthquakes are unpredictable. This is what makes earthquakes especially dangerous.
It is best to prepare and store an emergency kit consisting of food, drinking water, flashlights, radios, first aid kits, a head protection called "Bousai Zukin", heavy gloves, jackets with long sleeves, and durable shoes.
In the event of a large earthquake or other natural disaster, you must evacuate to a safe place and focus on keeping yourself out of harm's way.
In the case of evacuation, please head to the public elementary school, middle school, or high school nearest you. Arm yourself with knowledge beforehand, and make sure you are aware of the nearest evacuation center to your home and/or place of work.
